Meet Dr. Anthony Joseph Russo

Dr Anthony Russo is originally from Staten Island NY. Growing up working with his father in their family Pizzeria/Italian Restaurant, Anthony became familiar with the service industry and how to provide a comfortable atmosphere to patrons – qualities that transition well to healthcare/the dental office. The motto of the Restaurant was “Where quality is first because we care”;   again something that is engrained in his personality.
Dr Anthony Russo applied to and was accepted to the prestigious combined 7 year BS/DDS program with Wagner College and New York University College of Dentistry. During dental school Anthony met his wife, Dr Angela Russo (who is a practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Portland and Biddeford) and one of his best friends Dr Adam Shoukry.  After graduating dental school in 2005 and receiving licensure through successful completion of the North East Regional Board, he further advanced his training with a General Practice Residency at Hackensack University Medical Center – which was completed in 2006. There he learned complex treatment planning and the ability to offer patients a wide variety of treatment for their existing conditions.

After residency Dr Anthony Russo and Dr Adam Shoukry practiced together as associates for five years before opening South Nassau Dental Arts in Rockville Centre, NY. They practiced there together until December 2020 at which time Dr Russo sold his half to his best friend and partner with intent to move to Maine and join a non-for-profit in Portland.   At least once a year you can catch Dr Russo and Dr Shoukry hitting up some of Maine’s pizza spots.

In January of 2021 Drs Anthony and Angela Russo started working for a Community Health Center in Portland Maine affiliated with Maine Med and Tufts University. There they provided quality comprehensive care for a substantial number of patients with Maine Care. There they were also able to teach Tufts AEGD Maine Program residents.  They practiced there full time until December 2024.

In his off time Anthony enjoys spending time with his wife and son exploring all of the wonderful things Maine has to offer, natural beauty and food scene etc.  Anthony still enjoys making pizza – at home and you may catch him and his son at the indoor ropes course at Jordan’s, one of his son’s favorite activities.
